get familiar with these recent and upcoming releases.

Bun-B: II Trill, 5/20/08 – Definitely a must cop in my opinion. Not sure if its better than his first LP but still a worthy listen. RIP Pimp C, UGK 4 Life.
(Noteworthy tracks – Damn I’m Cold (ft. Lil’ Wayne), the Jodeci inspired Your Everything (ft. Rick Ross, David Banner, 8Ball & MJG), Swang On Em’ (ft. Lupe Fiasco) who absolutely bodies this track, and finally Angel In The Sky (Pimp C Tribute). Other guest on the album include – Pimp C, Sean Kingston, Z-Ro, J.Prince, Juvenile, Webbie, Mya, Young Buck, Lyfe Jennings, and Junior Reid).

Kidz In The Hall: The In Crowd, In Stores Now – I felt their first album School Was My Hustle was highly slept on. This time around KITH are on Duck Down records and slowly building an impressive resume. One things for sure the GO (Chicago for you lames) continually put out strong hiphop acts.
(Noteworthy Tracks – Let Your Hairdown (ft. Skyzoo & Lil’ Eddie), God Bless (iTunes Bonus), The Pledge, Drivin’ Down The Block (Remix) (ft. The Cool Kids, Bun-B, & Pusha T), Paper Trail (ft. Phonte), my favorite track so far Love Hangover (ft. Estelle), and the midwest banger Middle of the Map pt. 2 featuring Black Milk & Guilty Simpson)

N.E.R.D. Seeing Sounds, 6/10/08 – Sorry if I’m gassing this up but this might be one of the best releases of 2008. Everything i’ve heard so far has done nothing to dispel that notion.
(Noteworthy Tracks – Everyone Nose, Spazz, for full Seeing Sounds tracklisting click here)

Santogold, In Stores Now – My alternative pick of the month. Actually its more like Disco, Pop, Punk pick-of-the month. This CD has actually been getting alot of good press, including 4 out of 5 stars in Rolling Stone. If you liked M.I.A.’s Kala, I highly recommend you peep this jawn.
(Noteworthy Tracks – L.E.S. Artistes [Video], Shuv It, Creator, Lightsout, and Starstruck. For more info on Santogold check her out via Myspace)

Honerable Mentions:
The Roots: Rising Down – Great album from start to finish. No disrespec to ATCQ and De La Soul – but The Roots and OutKast might be the best hiphop groups ever.
Mariah Carey: E=MC2 – Mrs. Nick Cannon struts her usual stuff on this pop joint. If your boys ask, say its your “girl, shorty, jumpoff’s” CD.
Atmosphere: When Life Gives You Lemons… – I personally haven’t listened to this in its entirety. However, from what I hear Slug and Ant don’t disappoint.
